On 14-16 November 2016 representatives of allied countries attended the NATO Military Police Doctrine and Standardization Forum (MP D&SF) which created a platform for discussion and contributed to the broadening of the NATO MP Community of Interest (MP CoI) for the MP Doctrine and Standardization members. The Forum addressed related issues and supported a better understanding of them. The outcomes will be presented to the Military Police Panel (MPP) and the event will be definitely continued next year.
on November 2016

The intent of the event was to bring together subject matter experts, (SME) working at the NATO and national level in the doctrine functional area and to mutually exchange experience in developing (at national level) the allied doctrinal publications and determine how to coordinate NATO MP contribution to the Allied Joint Doctrine Campaign Plan.

During the assembly, representatives of 9 NATO countries shared their national/allied publications development and experience in operations to expand awareness of each member’s capacities in the field of standardization, as well as to extend knowledge of national experiences and lessons learned.

Moreover, the following areas of special interest were presented organisation of the NATO Standardization, MP Terminology matters, Stability Policing aspects, relationship among Doctrine&Standardization and Lessons Learned, as well as Education and Training.

Proactive participation in discussions, which followed each presentation resulted in attempt to identify solutions for common challenges.

The gathering was concluded with a project of the Record of Discussions. The draft proposal comprised several recommendations and the most vital were as follows:

- to regularly inform the MP Panel and the whole MP CoI/nations about the current standardization development;
- to consider participation in the selected Aps and an engagement of one SMEs in the AJP-3 review teams;
- to use the JWC validation opportunity for the AJP-3.21 and encourage nations to engage their SMEs.

Since the Forum has become such a valuable and beneficial tool for MP CoI, all participants agreed to continue the event next year and were encouraged to send their proposals for the main topics of further discussions for the next MP D&SF which will take place on 14-16 November 2017.
