The main aim of the event was to review and update the NATO Education and Individual Training (E&IT) requirements in the MPG discipline, and to validate as well as revise (E&T) solutions in terms of supporting the HQ SACT’s responsibility for translating NATO E&T requirements into products, mostly for individual but for collective training as well. We, as the Department Head (DH), follow principles of the NATO Global Programming (GP) which focuses on preparation of individuals to take posts in NATO Command or Force Structure (NCS, NFS). On the other hand, any MP-related staff member working in other NATO body or in an international environment can benefit from our MPG solutions. It should be emphasized that we actively contribute to NATO Partnership Cooperation Menu (PCM) in order to support NATO partners in their development thus we increase/extend our offer year by year.
The SACT JFD MPG point of contact (POC) referred to the Job Descriptions (JD) and stressed the need for inclusion of our courses in them. For this reason, we will focus on introducing our E&T solutions into JDs for Military Police (MP) posts among NCS, NFS. We will cooperate closely with the SHAPE Provost Marshal on this matter as he acts as a discipline’s Requirement Authority.
The other challenge will be to take the next step and strengthen cross-functionality with other disciplines. As we are well grounded in our MPG area, we can dedicate our experience and knowledge to following our mentorship bodies’ direction and guidance in that scope.
Needless to say, implications of the ongoing pandemic were discussed at greater length than the other issues. However, the crucial point is to be able to plan two or more courses of actions simultaneously and to readily adapt and execute one of them if needed.
All of the above-mentioned issues raised at the meeting will be thoroughly analyzed by our DH officer and subsequently included in a Discipline Alignment Plan.
