As it was last year and on the first NATO Day, the event gathered thousands of people. The undertaking was targeted at the youngest part of the community – the children.
This year the NATO Day was very special, as all NATO units and institutions focused on the fact that in 2019 Poland is celebrating the 20th anniversary of joining NATO. Moreover, the Joint Force Training Centre celebrates the 15th anniversary of its establishment, as well as the NATO MP COE its 5th anniversary. On the above-mentioned occasion, the flag parade was organised. This was was a unique view. It is necessary to emphasise that each flag was carried by its national representative. The very first flag was the NATO flag, then the Polish flag, and the remaining flags followed in the alphabetical order.
This year’s event was also specific also for children. The organisers took into consideration their needs and therefore prepared a lot of surprises and snacks, kids were delighted due to the fact that all units and institutions involved prepared a number of attractions for them, e.g. music performances and concerts (B4 Art group from Gdynia, military orchestra from Bydgoszcz and Blue Berets), playground zones for children and service dog training demonstration, so even the youngest participants were satisfied. The Logistic Brigade prepared a famous traditional Polish military pea soup for everyone.
Some of the representatives of NATO institutions had an opportunity to test their own skills during the competition called “Terrain Massacre” organised by the Bydgoszcz City Hall. It was very demanding and challenging but gave so much pleasure and satisfaction. From the NATO MP COE’s side, the Director of the Centre, COL Mirosław ŁABĘCKI, proudly took part in that competition together with 5 supporting team members.
The 2019 NATO Day in Bydgoszcz was filled with various military attractions. Presentations of NATO units located in Bydgoszcz, numerous competitions, as well as static and dynamic displays of military equipment, including vehicles displayed by the American troops.
The basic principle of the 3rd NATO Day was to better understand the mission of the Alliance.
Following a great tradition established two years ago, the NATO MP COE staff invited the citizens of Bydgoszcz at the COE’s stand where they were offered sweets, balloons and other very attractive gifts. Without any doubt it is necessary to mention that all activities during the NATO Day were strongly supported by families and friends of the NATO MP COE’s personnel. The Centre’s staff is very grateful – especially for the devotion of the spouses and their engagement. Despite the household duties, all families were very supportive.
The NATO MP COE’s personnel are very proud that they had an opportunity to familiarise the citizens of Bydgoszcz with NATO and personally consider the event as an award of the efforts devoted to the completion of their everyday duty.
Thank you for joining us and see you next year!
