The aims of the event were to present Bydgoszcz as the undisputed Polish capital of NATO, which hosts four units of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.
During the NATO Day, a lot of exhibitions of military equipment were prepared mainly by representatives of the American Army from the 2nd Cavalry Regiment and the British Army from the Light Dragoons Regiment. American soldiers presented, e.g. various models of the armored Striker vehicles, while soldiers from the British intelligence unit presented light Coyote and Jackal reconnaissance vehicles.
The picnic began with a short official opening ceremony and presentation of involved parties. After this, the visitors were invited to admire stage performances of musical bands, orchestras and presentations prepared by cultural institutions, schools and uniformed services, including demonstration drills.
At the time of the picnic, there was a special activity zone prepared especially for children, e.g. face painting, rope parks.
Visitors also had an opportunity to admire races of Dragon Boat eight teams.
One of the most interesting points of the NATO Day were as usually pea soup and a Bulgarian dance presented by Aleksandrina BAHNEVA (wife of the current Education & Training Branch Head).
